Just got two ducklings from the feed store - a Swedish Blue and a Khaki Campbell. They are maybe a week old. We had two ducklings last year, but they were about 3 weeks old when we got them. These two new ones won't quit crying and they are so loud! There are the two of them, they have feed and water (and I've seen them use both) and a heat lamp and I gave them a box for hiding...but they haven't stopped peeping for more than a half hour at a time. Help!

If you just picked them up they are probably still adjusting to the new environment and a little freaked out by the move. In a day or so they will be fine :)

I hope so! I don't remember Aflac and Daffy being so noisy! I put a stuffed animal in with them last night to cuddle, they slept about 4 hours then woke me up at 4 AM with the noise.

LOL reminds me of my first calls.. needy... doesn't even cover it. They did eventually settle down. Some ducks are just super vocal and needy. you could try cuddling them if that is something your comfy with, ours loved bath time.. my second set was never that demanding.

Good luck!

I think you've gotten some good comments - the one possibility I would want to be sure of is the brooder temperature - do you have a thermometer and know that the temp is okay? Bear with me, sometimes folks are surprised to find they have the temperature up too high or down too low.

So I think they were just adjusting. Hubby said they were quiet today while I was at work and they only really get going when I walk by their box. I even got them to almost fall asleep in my lap.
