This morning, I awoke to an outdoor temperature of -2F. Brrr!

Some may find this gross. But seriously, if you do, you may want to consider a hobby other than raising chickens. I thought it was cool enough to trudge back in the house to get my camera.
Behold, the chicken poop ice sculpture!

A nice example of the moisture emitted from the nightly load in the coop.

And as an added bonus, I looked down to see this behavior. The ladies, not the knuckle head giving me attitude in the foreground.

Rhoda is carefully picking ice out of Cali's chest feathers. Again, pretty cool!

Who knew chickens could be such artists.
It's bright a here too! I want to let them out a little later when it warms up to around 20. In the meantime, they can pick the ice out of each others feathers for entertainment. They did finally venture out into the run and perch on the branches there. It gets a bit of sun through the wall tarps.

Catching the grooming hen to hen is a video worth hanging on to. Especially cleaning a away ice. Do any of the hens do Fabio's beard?

Not that I've caught.
I did catch Veronica plucking out Captains beard. But somehow I don't think that's quite that same...
