Gosh, we have had such nice weather, until yesterday. It snowed!
I know that ducks are cold hardy, but my Elvis was a desert dweller until we brought him up north a few weeks ago. He had never seen snow before, and I worried about him freezing his little toosh off. So, I went out in the snow and put a shelter up for him and MaryLou. MaryLou was raised around here so I wasn't too worried about her. I had to go out three times to brush the snow off the top of the canopy so that it wouldn't collapse. Talk about spoiled ducks.
It has been melting off today, and they love foraging around in the mud. Guess I will be cleaning out the pond next.
Before the storm
During the storm
I took it all down this morning. There is no snow in the forecast, but if it comes again...well.
edited to say: Elvis is the Crested, and MaryLou is the Pekin.
