Last Thursday, after 3 pest free months, we were awakened at 3:43 by the local raccoon attempting to get into the coop. He was snarling, the girls were bawking ... we chased him off. Now the coop is a veritable Fort Knox, with no less than 8 latches, 5 of them spring loaded ... and we added a baby monitor too, just to be SURE we'd know of any further attempts. I just spent the ENTIRE night listening to rustles, scrapes and who knows what else. Oh my gosh! What was that? Was he trying the latch? Is that stealthy rustle a rat instead? Surely that's not the chickens AGAIN? Why is the motion light not on? (Surely not because there's NOTHING THERE!)

DH gets the monitor on HIS side tonight.

THATS TOO FUNNY! When my teenage son came home from a lengthy hospital stay we had to have a baby monitor in our room for almost 2 months. We heard every time he rolled over, scratched his nose, talked in his sleep etc!! My hubby has never had babies around. That monitor drove him nuts. So when I started reading on here that some used monitors in the coop, I said well we do have that baby monitor in the closet!! His response... Not only NO but **** NO!!!
