Baby oil for scaly leg mites?

No, and No.

Get some Permethrin Spray. Or a Pyreththrin/Piperonyl Butoxide spray or dip.

If you don't want to go that route, get some Garden Dust with Spinosad as its active ingredient and hope. Its effective on some, but not all, mites.

I've treated with elector psp. I don't want to deal with egg withdraw if I don't have to.
Elector PSP is Spinosad. Sometimes Garden Dust is either more available, cheaper, or already on hand.

Did this work for you? We got scaly left mites and used elector PSP and it did t appear to work. We ended up using a vegetable oil dip every other day for two weeks. That seemed to work but, just not sure how long before the scales will go back to normal.

Has anyone ever used baby oil to dip their chickens legs for scaly leg mites? If so, was it effective?
Yes, you can use baby oil which is actually mineral oil. But most find that vaseline is thicker stays on better, and castor oil can also be used. I have used vegetable oil in a pinch. Coat the legs twice a week. If you have any pictures of the legs, we could help.
