Hello all,

We just acquired a six-week-old partridge rock. She appears happy and healthy in every way. However, we noticed a bald patch on her right shoulder that seems to be missing not only feathers but skin. Her left shoulder is fully feathered. Not sure if this is just a normal part of her growing feathers or what. Just hope it is not a tumor or some other serious ailment. Have attached photos. Would appreciate any input.

Thank you,
Mike

Time will tell with that. Sometimes, you'll see patches like that on dark feathered chicks. Is there an actual lump there? I'm not seeing a lump in the pics.

She might very well grow feathers out there, and you won't see that bald spot. If you think others might be attracted to the bare area and peck her, just put a dab of Blue Cote on it, which will help sooth the skin and make it less noticeable to the other chicks.
