I have a three week old polish. The other chicks have pecked at its head taking off half the little feathers growing in. 😭 is it ok to isolate the polish until it heals? I brought it inside with one other chick so it wouldn’t get lonely, but the other chick had been crying nonstop. So now I don’t know what to do. Please help!

Hi! I’ve heard that it’s common for other chickens to pick on the Polish ones. I don’t know why they do this. My best guess is that those long, dangling head feathers are to interesting to resist.

My advice would be to get more Polish chickens. As crazy as this sounds, adding more targets will help spread out the bullying behavior of the other birds. It’s the same concept as adding new birds to an existing flock. The more you add, the less likely that one will get ganged up on.

I see this question was posted a while ago. Sorry to chime in so late. I hope you were able to use the search function & find some answers.
