Thanks to our cat, we are now in possession of a baby rabbit. This is the second time in as many days that he's brought it home (we released once already). It doesn't appear to be hurt, but I'm reluctant to release it again since the first time was unsuccessful.

I don't have a coop yet - still researching things. Any ideas what to do with it?

Never mind. Sadly, Carl, as he was named by the kids, passed while chilling on my shoulder this evening. Funeral arrangements tbd.

I am sorry it passed. If there ever is a next time, immediately contact a wildlife rehabilitator. Wild rabbits are notoriously difficult to take care of, not to mention it is illegal for you to do so in almost all places in the United States. Contacting a professional who knows exactly how to handle an animal for maximum survival and potential for release is what you should always do....unless you are a rehabber yourself, but because you had to ask the question, you're not.

Also, time to make your cat an indoor cat. If you're not keen on the idea, here is a friendly comic on what cats do when they're outside. Your kitty cat will not suffer as an indoor cat. As long as you provide the enrichment your cat needs, they stay physically active and mentally healthy. You can also make kitty pens so they can be outside, but other animals are safe from them. Not to mention, outdoor cats have a markedly shortened lifespan due to disease (FIV and FeLV from other cats) and injury (cars, other cats, dogs, etc.).
