baby silkie chicks

go to mypetchicken.com

they sex silkies and other bantams. you will pay extra for the luxury of knowing you don't have a million roosters, but to a lot of people it is worth it.

I've wondered this many times myself. Here is an excellent thread with some good posts from Sonoran Silkies.

I decided to just order extra straight run and hope I get a hen. Paying $10 for a chick that is not SQ that *might* be sexed correctly just isn't worth it to me. Good luck with whatever you decide!

ETA oops! wrong link! You'll just want to start at page 1, this link starts at page 3.

it's true, it is expensive to buy a sexed silkie, and sexing isn't a 100% guarantee.

however, in my area, it is not so easy to sell off your roosters or even give them away! I also will not cull a rooster just because I ordered too many.

mypetchicken.com is definitely something to consider!
