Hi my name is Amanda this is the 2nd year I've bought chickens. Last year we got 6 silkies and 4 were roosters. Out of those we were only able to keep 2. Now I just got 3 more silkies and some others pullets. Unfortunately 1 Wilkie is definitely a male, I can already tell at 3 weeks old. So if anyone wants a free rooster or knows someone that would be great. I am thinking to either get rid of the baby rooster or my older one, he is about a year old now and doesn't get along with our more docile rooster. I live in Fulton county new York, any help would be appreciated.

Welcome!

Sorry to hear about your too many roos situation.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread where someone might be able to assist you with the rehoming; may be looking for a rooster themselves or knowing someone who is: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

Alternatively, BYC does have a Buy, Sell, Trade Forum but you do need to have contributed at least 20 BYC posts before you can participate: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/67/buy-sell-trade

Lastly, there is the Silkie Thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/297632/silkie-thread

Good luck!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Silkies are one of the most difficult breeds to sex before 4-5mos. of age and sometimes not till they crow or lay eggs. People often get roosters just because they keep buying very young chicks.
