I am planning to make a coop and bachelor run for three roosters. The year old, Lil Peep, will be taken out of the run he has had with the hens. He is super rough on them and is extremely protective. I love him so I am making him a new area where hopefully he won't feel the need to try and kill me when he forgets who just gave him treats. I also have his beautiful offspring, Gigi, aka Georgie Jr, after his mom. Additionally, we also have a little silkie named Phyllis who is also now crowing. How best can I make this transition for these beautiful guys? Gigi and Phyl (lis) are super bonded and good buddies. They are 13 weeks old.

No. We just recently found out that the babies were roos. We are fine at letting the Littles grow a bit more but ideally, we plan on moving them in to their own bachelor enclosure. We mostly want to get our big one year old Roo Lil Peep, out of the hen area so they and I aren't abused anymore by him.

The two chicks will more than likely bond and will do fine together. The older roo it is hard to say. He may be more accepting of them when they are younger. If you wait until they sexually mature he may fight with them, so I would try sooner rather than later to pen them together. You also may have to pen them next to each other for while if the rooster shows any aggression towards them.

I understand your not wanting to cull them, but do know sometimes a bachelor pad does not work, or works for a while, and then does not work. Sometimes it works just fine. Thing is roosters are a crap shoot, and they can be quite aggressive, to humans or to hens, or to other roosters.

Sometimes I think bachelor pads are tooted as the solution to mulitple roosters. Sometimes it is, but a lot of time it is not.
