I've been thinking for a couple years about having bantam chickens again, for fun and eggs.
Back in the 1990s we had Rosecomb bantams which our children helped raise and feed. They were pets but we loved the eggs.
I'm leaning towards the same breed just because I had good results in the past.
No coop yet. I will have to fence a run due to woods next door that contain foxes, opossums, raccoons.
When I had chickens before I built a coop using a whelping box, placed next to an old shed with overhang. I created a run with chicken wire and hardware cloth.
DIY suggestions for carpentry-challenged and financially limited types like myself would be welcomed, as would generally discussions about chicken raising.
