Backyard Maple syrup

Any one every use or have one of these im thinking of getting one.

I droooled over that exact model for months before the season. This was my second sugaring season, and I vowed to do it on the cheap because im not selling any syrup, it is all for me. I think although this thing would be very nifty, and probably a bit more convenient, i built an evaporator out of cinder blocks and buffet pans. Cost 60 bucks, and worked like a charm. Not exactly pretty but got the job done. Ended up with almost 2 gallons of sap from approx 70 gals of sap i got from 11 taps off 7 trees.

Well heck that works! Pretty good numbers too :thumbsup
 
2x6 evaporators are all over the place used as folks expand, I’d recommend going that route, if you get really into it you can even grow to a mini r.o. We run a 5x14 KING and burn about 10-15 cord a year, any bigger and it would not be a hobby anymore😆
