I think most of us bought our first chickens b/c the guy behind the counter of the local feed store told us that we can't get wrong with them. Later, when we are more confident in our abilities as chicken moms and dads, we all fall (more or less) for chicken math b/c we learn about the dif. breeds and are carried away by the often stunning beauty.
After a while we find our fav. breeds and some of us get involved in breeding and showmanship.
And than years after our first trip to the feed store on a late autumn day some of us stand in front of a cage at the International Poultry Exhibition in XY and see THAT bird and think: Where have you been all the time?
And then the breeder tells you that THAT bird is one of only 175 birds left on this planet and you just can't believe that b/c it is all you ever wanted.
So, dear breeders of rare breeds, why waiting til some of us stumble into your aisle at a show? Please show us your backyard pandas and tell us why you are in love with your breed.
