I guess I'll have to re-think the clamp-on light in the brooder. Don't slam me. It's secured to the ceiling and roost. Well, it was anyway. It's outta' there now!

She looks mighty pleased with herself. Her name is Faith by the way!

Thats cute! We have a little mottled lap bantam hen in our coop that does that! We we lock them up at night, my hubby has her so rotten... he sometimes helps her up on her extension cord and call her Darlin'!

My Brahmas were the same when they were pullets! Now, my favorite hen thinks that my lap is "Hers. . . You hear her? HERS." - If I ever kneel or sit down, she wants to jump up on it so bad. . . It's terrible when I'm on the other side of the fence and kneel. . . She paces and paces and paces, looking straight for my lap.

It is an old snake cage I bought used on Craigslist. It came with a socket for a heat lamp and also wired in florescent lighting. I just added an extra heat lamp on a dimmer today because I had chicks just out of the incubator. I will tape the cord to the ceiling next time. She was actually swinging on it. She didn't even get down with hubby and I standing and laughing and taking pictures. I had to shoo her off. She's a pistol.

I just read this to my hubby and he's going to put a zip tie on the lamp (we have it the same way) to keep it from being knocked down.
