Bad customer service Rant

A couple of days ago there was an interruption to my gas supply. I could relight the pilot light on my water heater no worries... But my heating in the house is a ducted system in the roof. Stupid manhole is in the ceiling above my shower!! Of all the stupid places to put it... Anyway- I did try to climb up a ladder last night to at least try to do it myself...I couldnt even see where the pilot light was... So I rang the gas company today and logged a call for a service guy to come climb up into my roof.. I did that once before about 6 months ago when the gas meters were all changed in my area...No problems that time. BUT THIS TIME

I rang at 11 am.. But the lady said she would wait to log the call so I would be home from work before someone turned up..OK...so far so good... I got home at 4pm..Rang the gas company..and yes the call was logged as promised by the lady I had spoken to.. It is now after 8pm and getting very cold here as it has been raining all day as well - and still no-one has turned up. I cant call the gas company service line as it closed at 6pm..I only get recorded numbers on all the phone numbers listed.. I did get through to a human finally - but she did not have access to the computer system to check logged service calls. Im am so frustrated. There is a number listed for "FAULTS " but when you ring up you get a very stern voice telling you that unless you are reporting a serious gas leak that you should hang up...

I cant believe that an essential service does not have some kind of 24 hour phone seervice available to its clients.

I guess I will be off now to go and buy some small heaters from a supermarket if they have any left - at least I have heating in the car for the drive there........ My ducklings all have lamps on them...But its still very cold here....
 
I'd write the nastiest letter, send it certified, addressed to the president's office.................they always respond............include your phone number....................document all your calls, times and names of people you spoke to
 
Last time I needed someone to come out- It was around 6pm when they got to the house... I just think it really stinks that they can tell me there is a four hour call out window..and that four hours ends when there is no-one to respond to phone calls.. I will definately be calling back tomorrow and asking to speak to a supervisor at the very least to ensure that I do get someone sent to the house.. There was one heater at the supermarket... But it was only an oil heater that does a very small room... I bought my daughter an electric blanket anyway.. I think I should sent the receipt to the gas company and tell them to take it off my next bill.

Maybe I should just curl up in the brooder with my ducklings..They look nice and snug

mean while its after 10pm here.... And cold even though I have a blanket around me. I am too angry to sleep. But at least I can look on the bright side. I can have a nice hot shower in the morning.


I will be writting a letter and asking for an explaination of how someone is supposed to report a non gas leak emergency after hours... I shouldnt have to have bad thoughts in my head about taking a sledge hammer to the gas metre and have the whole street evacuted just to get my heater turned on when the gas company turned off the gas to do maintanence themselves. Obviously I would never do that..My neighbours shouldnt have to suffer too..But surely there are many other frustrated people out there who have found the same bad service that I have.
I am just very cold and frustrated at the moment.
