Bad Duck Mom

I feel like a bad mom dropped off 20 babies to be custom slaughtered. They were all so good when i put them in the crates. I know they will go to duck heaven but I still feel bad.

oh. it is hard to do things like that. very hard. but you know for a fact they got a fantastic life with you before hand. much better than they would have if you'd just bought a duck at the grocery store.

my sympathies. but you're not bad.

Thank you Pickles, yes they had a very good life. I had most fo them since they were 4 days old. They lived outside, had a pond to play in, played in the mud, at bugs, walked across the road to the neighbours

, they were bad when they did that but they liked doing it so the cars would stop for them. They also got lots of treats. I still have about 40 ducks, so I also look at the good side of it, my feed bill will be lower.

we all do what we feel is best.
say some duckie prayers.
are you going to be using the meat to feed yourself and your family? maybe a little "thank you" prayer or mediation to the duckies for the gift they are giving to you and your fam. would make you feel better?
if you find it too hard next time you could try to adopt them out instead!

I understand. My thoughts are with you. My girls were good, too, and this time I asked the processor who loaded them into the cones to be gentle because they were "pets". He acted a LOT better this time, so I tipped him $5.

yes the guys at the plant were very nice, my friend and were kind of upset, she didn't tell me but she was more upset then me, one popped his head out of the crate when we were leaving and she almost cried. I gave one away to a friend for Christmas and we have cooked one up, I have never eaten duck so I figured I should try it. The inspector loved my ducks, they had hardly any fat and were free of parasites and any disease as he could see. He said he has to destroy lots of ducks that people bring in as they are full of parasites and sick. I'm glad mine had a healthy happy life.
