I was given two pekin ducks today. One of them has a bad leg. I can't tell whether it's deformed or useless. I know ducks are prone to leg problems and that niacin can be used to correct these problems when they are young. Can the niacin correct the problem in older duck? They are about 7 weeks old. It seems to get around, but doesn't seem to be able to straighten the leg. Any suggestions?

I would start with the niacin, and some multivitamins, and as many swims in lukewarm water deep enough to float in as I could handle.

Treats and TLC can help, too, as you develop a trusting relationship with the duck.

Thank you, any idea what the dose should be? They niacin come in 500mg which i think would be too much.

I'm going to say no, it's not too late. We rescued a duck, that couldn't walk and was 8 weeks old at the time. She's 3 months old now and she is getting up on her feet again....a couple weeks ago she was walking on her legs as she couldn't straighten hers out either. I went to tractor supply and got nutri drench and a vitamin/electrolyte powder and I put them both in her water.
