Bad molting or is my chicken sick?

Just curious, why is it illegal? That, in my opinion, is absolutely ridiculous, but I'm sure there is a reason?
It was an unintended consequence of reaction to the BSE (mad cow) crisis, which had been caused by including the brains of sheep infected with scrapie in cattle feed. They banned feeding meat in any form to any livestock thereafter (no loopholes) and poultry were just caught up in the very broad definitions used in the legislation.

That's interesting. Do you and chicken keepers where you live agree with this? Or is it just weird to me because I'm not used to it?

I think most people neither know nor care about it. My view is that the feed manufacturers shouldn't have been putting animal waste in feed intended for herbivores in the first place. The legislation is sweeping because they can't be trusted not to exploit any exceptions.

That was my first thought, cows don’t eat meat. When you say they don’t know, you mean most people give scraps?
