we have (6)1.5 year old hens and today we added another 1 year old (she’s little) and (2)4 month olds from a friend.
When it started to turn dusk the 4 month olds went right in the coop to roost, the little 1 year old wouldn’t go in the coop b/c one of my older buff Orpington was stalking her and picking at her. I pushed her in and closed the coop door- my buff Orpington hasn’t stopped bak-ing since then it’s been 3 hours she stops for a little and then goes again. Should I open the coop door or just let it be for the night..?
The new 1 year old is not even roosting she lying down under the roost on the poop tray :(
(there’s plenty of room to roost)

I assume the buff Orpington is just pissed off..?
Any advice..?

Thank you, do you recommend putting her in every night and locking the coup or let her go in when she’s ready? Just don’t want her creating a habit of sleeping in the run like our rooster does...

She may go in on her own after the others are completely settled. If not, put her in at that point. They have rules about these things. I have a little hen that's lowest in the pecking order, and she has to wait to go to bed, so I have to wait too. I am looking forward to shorter days!

Pretty good —2 are hiding in the nesting boxes most of the day-will see how night time goes.

Good thing I was able to donate my rooster so things should settle down a bit I think
