I have 4 leghorn hens and a cock which I have had for about 3 weeks. They are very good layers - I get 3 or 4 eggs daily. Since arriving one hen sometimes has yellow liquid droppings and I noticed yesterday that this one has a bald bottom. I have noticed that the other hens seem to have bald bottoms but not so bad. They are not bleeding or scaby but just bald. I have read somewhere that bald bottoms sometimes affects hens that are good layers. Has anyone else heard of this or do they have any other ideas. I clean both the hen house and run regularly but have not yet dusted them for mites. The run is about 8ft square has branches in for roosting during the day, which they love to sit on to preen etc, and are fed chicken pellets and raw veg. Any advice would be great.
