Our flock consists of 5 hens and 1 cockerel. No complaints except that our BA (Artemis) has a small bald patch on the back of her head. I know it's from Remy (cockerel), but I'm wondering what/if anything, I should do about it?
Artemis is Remy's favorite, and funny enough, she seems rather fond of him, too. She'll stay near him more often than any of the others and it's not uncommon to see her break from foraging with everyone and run up to him clucking and then squat right in front of him. Of course, he will usually oblige her. When he happens to be the one that's feeling frisky, he'll run up to her and perform his dance and she'll either squat or walk off and he'll just go back to foraging or solicit someone else in the flock (usually the BR, his second fave).
Whenever he does mate with her, he'll hold onto the feathers on the back of her head, hence the bald patch. The skin is fine; no cuts or scratches or bruises. The feathers on her back and wings are also in good shape. Everyone else is the flock has perfect plumage.
She's not stressed or afraid of him and he doesn't chase her down or grab her (or anyone) unless they stay put for him. Everyone's laying normally and there are no other issues to report. I plan to keep an eye on her to make sure there is no damage or issues or anything, but is there anything else that I should do?
