We have a black banty cochin hen--she's our favorite, having the sweetest personality, and letting my 4 year old carry her anywhere he wants. Anyway, this morning, she was bald! Apparently, overnight, she's become the rooster's favorite too! When I was out there, he 'showed her a lot of attention', and she hid from him behind some rocks. Our flock is new, and we're new chicken owners--I know they lose feathers and squack a lot during mating, but her head is completely bald--is that normal, and/or okay? Also, with the loss of so many head feathers, I was shocked at how large and red her wattle is. She's not a closet roo, is she? I can't imagine that she is, with her docile personality, and the cowering I witnessed from the roo. Black Cochins have a lot more red wattles and combs, than other breeds, right? TIA for any info!!

I had an EE roo that was all about my lady buff orpingtons. Every single one of them didn't have a feather on their heads and I've seen him do his thing with them. He would grab onto their head so hard and pull until their poor little scalps lifted! Funny thing is that he was also busy with the EE girls in the pen too and they never lost a feather on their heads.

So maybe some breeds are more prone to easily pull feathers from?

I have some cochin/EE mixes and it does appear that a couple of my pullets have redder combs than the others. That's all I know however cause I'm new to that breed/mix.

I think that's definitely true. For instance, I notice my Faverolles hens tend to lose feathers more easily in my flock. The Speckled Sussex never seem to lose feathers except during a molt, and to be honest they seem to be my rooster's favorite.
