I have an EE who has been loosing neck feathers for quite some time now.

At first I thought it may be molting or pecking due to having other hens introduced to her cage. Today I saw her twitching her head around in a weird way as if it was itching. I did some research on mites and found that some burrow into the skin and sometimes cause feathers to fall out. I caught her today and looked her over and she has what looks like tiny holes on her skin in places and red irritated looking skin around the bald spot. I am sorry but I don't know how to post a picture but I will if I can figure it out. Any information on what this may be and how to cure and prevent it would be appreciated.

Thanks:)

I would say to dust her with DE or whatever you can get/or have for mites. It won't hurt and might solve your problem.

She does take dirt baths. She like to do it more than any of the others. I often find her in the funniest positions rolling in the dust.
