I came home and found my poor 8 wk old polish has a huge bald spot on his head. Put him in a cage by himself. Will the feathers come back, and how long until they do? Should I keep him isolated from the others until he heals?

i am sure that they will grow back as to when i do not know . is he in with any other polish . is it bloody ? If it is bloody you should keep him a way from the others

No, it's not bloody, just bald. Poor thing. He has been in with a bunch of other chicks the same age. Will be moving him or her into a pen with a couple of other polish the same age this weekend. They have all been together since I recieved them and none of the other polish have had any problems. It has rained here nearly everyday for the last two weeks and haven't been able to finish the "Polish Pen" as I call it. I'll kept him by himself until he is looking better.

most likely they will continue to pick on the chick. you can use antipick lotion on its head or I've also seen people put a little chunk of duct tape on the bald spot to protect it. don't smash it down, just apply enough pressure for it to connect loosely to the feathers that are still there.

it'll be ok to put him back in later as he feathers back out. but the key will be when you introduce him put everyone in a completely different pen than they are used to so there isn't an established pecking order he has to face.
