Hello Gallina man!
I have some chickens that are almost 2 years old, and have not molted yet, and one that molted at just under a year old. Five or six months old is young to molt, but I supose it is possible. It is common for the head and neck feathers to grow first.
You might want to watch, though. It could very well be that the hen in question is low in the pecking order- and getting her head pecked by others.

thanks for the reply i will keep an eye on her but she seems to get on ok more fethers in the coop and run today will put on pics thanks
