Bald spots on baby chicks???

My baby black orpingtons are about 4 wks old, and their necks and backs are very bare! The breeder said they were fine, just getting in their feathers! Do most little chicks, at this age, have alot of bare area on their necks and backs?? They look pathetic!! I don't remember seeing other little chicks look like this?? Is this normal development??

Pics would be helpful. Do they have enough space so there is not pecking and feather pulling?

Thanks for answering!! They do have enough room, 6' by 6' for 4 chicks!! They don't look like they have been pecked--no dried blood or sores!! They do preen, like the other 2!!
