Hi everybody -

We got a few new chickens this year. Several new chicks but also 4x one year olds from a friend.

Earlier this fall I noticed a bald spot w/ a tiny bit of blood on one of the one year old Black Australorp. I treated it with Blue Kote so that the other chickens wouldn't pick at the blood and it seemed to improve.
Unfortunately things haven't been getting better and over the past days the entire chest of the same chicken has gotten bald and the little feather stubs look blue. One of our young Australorps also shows a similar sign on the back of her neck. See photos attached.

Does anybody have any insight what this could be? Are they just pecking each other or is it a disease, mites or something different?

Thanks so much for the help!

That definitely makes a lot of sense with our young one. Confused about the one year old though, as that spot has been there for roughly 2 months now. It doesn't seem like the typical molt where they look shaggy for a while and then return to their normal appearance.

Thanks!
