Due to limited shade and high temps, I needed to prevent chickens piling up in the small corner of shade some of my runs had. While processing bamboo it dawned on me what I can do with the branches that are a bit of a pain to process for composting. The leaves will fall off the branches in the next 2 weeks and I will remove the thin sticks and chip them up into mulch, the leaves will stay on top (provided rain does not make them too heavy) and as they start to decompose they will fall through the netting its sitting on and add bedding to the run. If they do not fall through I will likely just cut a slit into the netting let it fall through then stitch it back up with zip ties
