Just read a great article on how to ‘pimp up’ your chookies pen, one person recommended including bamboo sticks and leaves in the pen, I’ve got loads of 20foot high bamboo I’ve been cutting and burning, can I put it in my girls pen, is it safe to eat , and any sap?
hope it’s good to use it will save me hours of chopping and burning and a new addition to their pen when they have to be confined to quarters!

I'm pretty sure bamboo isn't toxic in any way to chickens. We once tried to start a bamboo plant in the chicken coop. The chickens demolished it. I did recently try again and it looks like the plant has died. So annoying. I love bamboo. It's like the coolest plant ever.

There is a recent thread on here about the health benefits of feeding chickens bamboo leaves. It’s apparently good for them. I think the thread turned into how evil running bamboo is. If you plant bamboo, I highly recommend that you plant clumping bamboo. There are many varieties of clumping bamboo and it won’t take over your yard. I’m currently growing Green Hedge bamboo as a privacy and sound barrier screen at one end of my property.
