I have four new hens, I purchased because I wanted eggs and my chicks won't be producing for a while. I figure there could be an adjustment time,..but would they just plain stop laying after coming to their new house??? They came home on Sunday and there hasn't been an egg to be found between the bunch. I am starting to wonder if I was bamboozled. They do look a bit older than my gals, but my husband said he didn't think they were 6 months old. The girl who brought them said they were laying.
What do you all think, could their laying be interrupted this long? Or was I bamboozled?

Might take a week or so, but also check for any "stealth" nests. Mine hide eggs all over the place!

Well, a move may have put them off of laying for a while - it happens. Stick with the patience program and baby them a bit. I also read a post here a few weeks ago about someone jump starting egg laying with some concoction that came down from their Grandfather that was reported by others to work like nuts... I can't find the thread though - I'll post it here if I stumble onto it

Any changes in a chicken's life can affect their laying. It could be up to a month or so before you get any eggs. Be patient. Give them some treats. The best way to a chickens heart is through it's stomach.

That's why I love this site and all of you on it. I am going to try and figure out how to get up in the hay storage,..I had a thought about those possibly hidden eggs that is really the only place they could hide them out of site. Second I am going to give a week of our honeymoon time together,..then I am going to try the corn concoctions. Thank you everyone so much, it's good to know when you don't know, there is always someone here that does :)

Took a full month for my girls to adjust from their rehoming ordeal and they also lost their roo to a horse barn of a friend so that could have been part of it. Could just be they need to get in their groove and find out how great their new mom's farm is. Time to haul out the golf balls and give them the hint.
