That is what I got to go with our other little chick. Forgot to ask how to take the little band of her wing, though. Anyone know how to get it off? I will post a pic of her as soon as I can!

It's on her little wing. I looked as closely as I could at it, but I don't want to hurt her. I will see if I can get a pic of it.

here is a pic of her wing, and another just because she is so cute!

it looks to me like it is one that is sealed on with the pliers, and i wouldn't remove it... we are gonna band ours when they come in, this way we can keep track of each individual one. (we plan on them multiplying)

I've never known anyone to remove one (until after the butchering, of course)...

Ima gonna check something here and see what i can find out about removing them...

so it's okay to leave it? I was mostly worried about her growing and it hurting her. If it won't bother her, it won't bother me. These are my first chickens and I had never seen one with a band before. Thank you for your help!

won't hurt her one bit. wing banding is one of the ways of identifying chickens (kinda like a driver's license for chikies). just make sure that it doesn't slip down over the feathers at the bottom. if it does, just turn it back. once larger the feathers should mostly cover it and it will stay put after about a month. we have brass numbered bands for ours.

I Googled your problem. I found 2 places that tell you how to remove them. It seems that the band my be in her skin already ... like a piercing. So go here first; http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080518090556AAIyRM2

The
next link shows pics of the bands. They are just a tad different than yours ...

Seems to me that I would want to remove the band so it did not grow into the skin as the bird grows. Seems like you will need an extra pair of hands to help hold her still. She my put up a fight, but I would want it off her too. Good luck!
