I would like to start by saying that I know these babies are very young and there may be no way to determine their breeds correctly for several weeks. I've only had them since Saturday. They came from the TSC bantam bin.

But I'm curious, and I also have some very excited kiddos who keep asking me, and I'd love to be able to give them a better idea.

I've done a lot of comparisons online, here, and on Hoover's ID my chick page, and I might have some ideas, but possibly I'm overthinking it and second-guessing myself.

Chick number one, it's harder to see its feet, but they're not black. They're kind of a slate color? And it does have feathered legs.

All 4 have 4 toes. Any guesses are great and so appreciated. Thank you!

1- Lavender Cochin?
2- likely a Golden Sebright
3- Bantam EE? Or possibly OEGB? Depends on what kind of comb it has.
4- likely Buff Cochin
Thank you so much! Lavender cochin was my guess for number 1 as well. Then I read something that said cochins must have yellow feet, and it doesn't. But then I saw pictures that seemed to disprove that, so I wasn't sure. Number 2, I think Sebright as well. Number 3 has had me totally stumped since I was sure OEGB, then I found EEs that looked just like it too, lol. I'm thinking single comb, for now, though. And 4, I also thought maybe cochin. Maybe I haven't been too far off. Thank you again, I really appreciate your help!

If 3 has a single comb, my money is on OEGB.

Is it still too early to say? I can definitely get a picture of it from the face. I feel like there isn't much to see yet, lol.
You can tell comb type right from hatch, but it's often difficult to photograph right when it's teeny. If it's a pea comb, the comb area will be flat with with no obvious points. Single comb will have the little points already.
