I'm planning on building a new coop for my bantams, how much room would a trio need? (sq. ft.)

There are many factors that can play into it, like your climate and whether they will even need to be confined to the coop. Also do you ever plan to let them hatch? I always build bigger as you can never have too much room, but you can have too little room.

Welcome! My Belgian d'Uccles roost in the rafter poles of my coop, eight feet up! I'd recommend that you build a shed type structure, large as possible. 'Chicken math' is a real thing! I allow at least four sq. ft. per bird even though they are smaller, and larger will be better. I store the metal garbage cans of feed in my coop, which takes up floor space. What bantams? Will you have snow in winter? How large a run, and will it be roofed? Mary

Hi Mary, I have Seabrights,Dutch,Red Pyle and BB Red bantams.
Unfortunately we get snow, probably not far from you (nw Ohio).
I'm thinking of building an off ground coop that will house my breeds separately with a trio in each run, just wanted to know how much room is needed for a trio. Joe
