I was just given a 4 wk old bantam chick. Her mother is a mille fleur OE bantam and her father is a blue/silver ameracauna bantam. I picked her because at 4 wks old she had no signs of a comb whereas some of the other chicks did. She has green legs so she is an EEger. Do the feathers on the hackles being round versus more pointed hold true when sexing bantams? Just wondering if anyone knows what the odds are that she is a pullet? Also, at what age would a bantam be full grown?

thanks,
Wanda

Well, I've got 25 mixed bunch of bantam chicks and let me tell you they all started the same size but have grown to slightly different sizes. They were bought as "pullets" and I believe at 11 weeks they still are pullets. They are currently the same size as my full grown Sebrights and my OEBB roo. Their combs grew a little faster than the standard breed chicks of the same age and are just now turning to pink from yellow.

After reading and searching and trying to figure out what my chicks will end up looking like....well, I think I give up and will just WAIT!
