I have read lots of threads where bantam cochins hens care for LF chicks, but not the other way around. We would like to put bantam cochin chicks under our broody Barred Plymouth Rock hen, a large sized fowl. We hope to slip them under her at night once she has been broody for about 3 weeks.

So my questions are:
Will she be too heavy for them since bantams are much smaller than heavy breed chicks?
If it isn't a problem size wise, how many bantams could she cover and take care of successfully?
And has anyone tried this?

Thanks.

My LF hens do fine raising bantams. I am only on my second batch now....first batch only 3 eggs hatched and 3 broody hens shared them LOL. 1 LF cochin, 2 White Leghorn/Jersey Giant hens.....with bantam cochin chicks. The last batch is happening now.....1 LF cochin hen and 1 White Leghorn/Jersey Giant hen (different two than before) on a bunch of eggs. So far 2 bantam eggs have hatched.

Not sure on numbers they can cover. Maybe 10ish? Possibly more, possibly less.
