bantam cochin broody????

They don't really need to be closely monitored after you are sure they are accepted by the broody IMO. The hen will know what to do if she accepts the chicks you give her. I didn't separate mine from the rest. They left her alone and she became at the top of the pecking order when another hen tried to peck the chicks... Now all the hens are scared of her. Don't mess with a momma hen!!

well, I decided that since I paid good money for the chicks coming next week, I don't want to sacrifice them. BUT, I took three eggs that have been sitting on my counter for anywhere from 1-3 days and marked them #1-3 and placed them under her. She lifted her wing up and slid them under her. I guess we will see how she does. Maybe she'll hatch em. I will take the rest she tries to collect daily.

Tomorrow will be day 1 I think.

Good Luck to her!
