Last night I couldn't resist getting a LF GLW and a batam from the mixed bantam bin at the feed store. I brought them home and put them in the brooder with the two week old chicks I already had. The bantam is a Partridge Cochin near as I can tell and it is constantly trying to hide underneath the older chicks when they stand! It looks like it thinks they are it's mama or something. It is constantly underneath one of the other chicks. If you look in the brooder you can't even tell it's there until the chick it's hiding under moves. It especially likes to bug the Speckled Sussex. Do you think it's because they are similar colors? Has anyone seen this before?

Yes.

I have a BR cockerel who bonded with another larger chick about a week older than it, and was always pushing to get under her wings and snuggle with her. She finally acquiesced and then grew to seek him out for roosting that way. They are now housed together in a grow-out coop.
