We have a bantam cochin hen that is acting strangely and we are trying to figure out what the issue is. She is 8 months old and has been laying eggs regularly. There are 5 other chickens that she hands out with and a bantam cochin rooster; they all grew up together living in the same roost from day 1. Lately, she seems very non-social with anyone else, she sits in our chair on the front porch 90% of the day. She doesn't want to go to the coop at night; wants to stay in the chair on the porch. The other hens come to check on her but she gets rather loud when they come by. We still get an egg a day from her, but she doesn't seem to have an interest in leaving the chair. She has been doing this for about 3-4 days now. Any ideas?

Sounds like she has gone broody which is very common for Bantam Cochins. And her preferred spot for setting is the chair you mention. I have two Partridge Bantam Cochins and they will lay about 5 eggs and then go broody. One is such right now.

Is she eating and drinking?
Have you been putting her in the coop at night?

Could be broody...or getting ready to be.
These are my go-to signs of a broody.
Is she on nest most the day and all night?
When you pull her out of nest and put her on the ground, does she flatten right back out into a fluffy screeching pancake?
Does she walk around making a low cluckcluckcluckcluckcluck(ticking bomb) sound on her way back to the nest?

If so, then she is probably broody and you'll have to decide how to manage it.
