We have a large 12 X 12 coop. We have some bantams and silkies and some big birds. Has anyone ever build a little coop inside a coop with a small door for the bantams to have a place to get away from the big birds?

I have not done that since I only have 1 bantam and 1 bantam to be I would consider it if you have nearly half the flock bantams. im sure its not that hard just add a wall so you have two sides.

We only have a few Bantams, 2 hens and 1 roo. But we have a total of 31 chickens

I've done it with younger chickens, added to a batch that were several weeks older. It is much the same as a creep, where the younger animals can gain access to the 'good stuff.' But not the older/bigger ones. I also employ this method in my big coop, so as the smaller birds can get away from the head hen or rooster.

I think it would work out fine. I made mine with a big opening, and in that I place an opening just big enough for the birds you are trying to help out. I have a few sizes for different birds at various times.

Hope it works well for you,

RJ
