Okay, so I have some Call Ducks! xD
With all the colors I have right now from breeding one little group of ducks,
I've decided to breed them as "project ducks", and have an achievable end result in mind color-wise.

But here lies the dilemma. There's East Indie in there. >3>
I don't know how far back it goes in my stock, maybe 3 or 4 generations back; but there's enough to where I hatched some drakes this year with shocking green sheen all down their spinal region. There's no doubt in my mind they've got it in there, plus the seller of the original bird that the genes came from said she was a product of crossing with EIs, so there you have it, hehe.

I guess what I'm getting at is this: Do duck breeders ever crossbreed to introduce a new color into an already existing breed like Calls? Is it frowned upon? Or must all new recognized colors be of strictly Call origin, and anything else be considered an independent breed?

I'm not, by any means, an experienced breeder,
so if anyone could help me out that would be great! Thanks! <3

Interesting questions. I am completely ignorant of breeding and standards, so I won't even guess. But I will say, I think it's great you are trying this out.
