I have a nice almost year blue orp hen that has stopped laying recently. I have only had her about a 1 month and she was laying when she got here. Her last egg layed was March 29th. She is on good laying crumbles, has oyster shell and grit available at all times, I also put some DE in her food, fresh water with acv too. She is paired with a really nice splash rooster and I have also noticed that she doesn't want to be bred either, she is always looking to get away. I have checked her for egg bound but have not felt anything. She has no obvious signs of sickness or illness. Any suggestions? Is she just taking a break, if so how long does that normally last? Thank you.

Has she gone broody (staying in one spot, like the laying box)?

Most hens don't want to be bred, it isn't all that romantic...

If she's broody, she will break out of it. If she is sick she will probably have some other symptom by now.

No, not broody, though I wish she was.

I just wish I knew what was going on with her, no signs of anything at all. Poo looks good, her overall health seems great, she eats good, drinks good, just not laying. Hmmmm.....

OH my girl laid an egg today, whoooo hoooooo!!!!

I guess she was just taking a need break. It will be going in the bator soon, cant wait to see what she has.
