I have 13 chickens. 11 hens mixture of Orpington/cinna queen/barred rock etc. I have two roosters. One of my roosters may be the biggest rooster in Alabama and he's not full grown. He's a barred rock rooster and relatively friendly. He lets me go around the hens and runs away if I get close. He's not aggressive like past roosters we've had, that had to "go live in the woods." We have a five year old so an aggressive rooster can't really be around. My other rooster is a small bantam chicken. Never wanted the chicken but my wife and daughters fell in love with it when it was the size of a strawberry and just had to have it. Gave them the warning it could be a rooster, bantams aren't always friendly etc etc. Of course it was a rooster and thinks he's a big chicken.

Thats my flock and how it happened here's my question. I've been keeping my bantam in the coop with the other chickens for a while now and have always been worried because he so small. It's been months now and no issues. I got home yesterday and one of the chickens or multiple ones attacked him. I didn't see it but there was a good amount of blood and could tell his comb was bleeding. Kept him in the house and he's doing okay. He was crowing this morning in the kitchen.

If I do not put the bantam in the coop, he religiously sleeps and roosts on top of my grill that's by the house, I mean everytime. I'm fine with it but just worried because it's winter. Relatively are Winters aren't bad but such as today it was 15 degrees and would turn him into a block of ice. Has anyone else had this problem? Have an idea? Though about just getting a little nesting box for him to stay in and I can put him in it. However there are a few times we go out of town and just wanting some random experts opinions. Thanks and sorry of lengthy. Oh and I'm the one that takes care of the bantam now even tho upon purchase I said it was their responsibility and that I wouldn't but here we are.

Can you please post pictures of your setup including dimensions?
It really doesn't sound like your bantam cockerel was attacked. It sounds like he got a good shot to the comb as a correction for some offense he may have committed and combs bleed. A LOT. It can make a mess when they shake their heads and splatter the blood all over. I would just make sure he was cleaned up and the bleeding stopped and put him back with the flock.
I keep a 1.5 lb Sebright rooster with my nearly 8 lb Salmon Faverolles rooster without issue. There is also a cockerel and 23 hens/pullets in the flock. The Sebright is too quick for the SF to get him but the SF runs him off whenever he offends. But the Sebright has three of his own bantam hens to keep him happy. And the flock has a very large coop, run and pen so they all work well together.

Maybe it was a good shot to the comb and I'm over thinking it. One of the hens had blood all over her ( lavender Orpington), which I'm guessing she was the one doing the correcting. Was strange because my lav orpingtons are very very timid. Not at home for pics but hand built the run 12ft long 8ft wide, connects to the coop that has a run underneath as well. Coop is roughly 5 ft wide and 7 feet in length.
They all get along great for a while. I did add a roof to my chicken run, because some could escape and fly out. I just added that last week so maybe they are stressed.

Your coop and run are too small for the number of birds you have.
