Hello! :frow

I have thought about this before, and would like to see if anybody has bred Bantam Sex-Links? I understand there wouldn't be much of a use for them, but I think it would be interesting!

Thanks!

I have a Barred bantam Cochin that I was going to try to create sex links with. It’ll be awhile since she’s only 4 weeks old. Hopefully I have some options for a male. (I’ll probably end up with all pullets because of wanting a boy lol)

How about Bantam Cream Legbars? creating them using Bantam Leghorns would be the best way to go about it

Where you getting the blue egg genes from?
Breeding legbars to bantam leghorns?
Think it might be a pain. Gotta get and keep the blue egg genes going so if you breed to bantam leghorns to get the size down you're breeding away from the blue egg genes.

At some point I was thinking about bantam Rhodebars. Doubt they'd be popular but every show I go to has tons of quality bantam RIRs and bantam barred rocks.
Thought it might be a fun project at some point in the future.

I would think the same way CCL were created in the first place? It's really not that hard, Dr. Punnett bred blue egg mongrels(Punnetts own words) with legbars and created Cream Legbars, I would guess using stablished CCL and Bantam Leghorns would be not more challenging than Dr. Punnett own attempt, one would need to be diligent of course.

I'm thinks of Sex-links, not auto-sexing, but that would be interesting. :)
Any of the sex link cross would apply in your case, you just need to make sure you cross bantam sized birds, that is all, for example black bantam rooster mated to a barred bantam hen.
