Hi! Two years ago i purchased a RIR pullet and a barred rock pullet. They became very friendly and i enjoyed just watching them. Sadly my neighbors dog got ahold of them. i decided to get some more this year. i went to my local tractor supply and bough 2 white leghorn(for my mother in law) and 8 red pullets. The guy told me they were probably RIR but could also be red sex link or red giants but he seemed positive they were not sex link. I am far from being a chicken expert and i may be wrong, but i thought a RIR had a deep red color. my chicks wing feathers have come in and are not white(compared to the white leghorns) but are far from a nice red. i love them either way
maybe i could get some help on their breed. I was intent on finding some barred rocks in my area so i visited a local feed store the next day. They didnt have any but i did leave with 2 brahmas and 3 strait run chicks of an unknown breed. i think(and hope) one might be a sebright bantam.
