I've gotten three Bantam chickens for free. They're about two months old or so. I just got them today and they're checking out their new home. I'm currently building their run and it should be done tomorrow. I need to let the posts and cement settle and harden overnight.

Is there anything I should watch for with this breed? Will they work well with other breeds because I plan on getting at least six more of another breed.

I didn't see anything in the breed section, are they known by another name?

"Bantam" is a class of chicken, not a specific breed. "Bantam" means a small type of chicken. There are many different breeds that come in both bantam and standard sizes, as well as some breeds that exist only as bantams and some that exist only as standards (standards are also referred to as "large fowl").

If you can post a few pictures, the fine folks here can try to identify the breed for you. Also, you might want to look up a few of the most common bantams for yourself -- for instance, bantam cochins and bantam Old English Game chickens (often referred to as OEG), and see if some of those resemble your birds.

Whatever they are, have fun with them!

I did take some pics but for some reason I can't download them from the camera. I'll try a different camera.

They are all black. Two of them have a white "tie" down their chest, one more prominent than the other. I think I may have one male, maybe two of the three. Their tails look longer to me.
