banty broody questions

Hi. My bantam cochin has sort of decided to go broody. It took her a few days to decide she was serious about this, she kept getting off the nest in the day and staying on eggs alll evening and night. Now i put her in a pet rate and she seems set. My question is how many standard size eggs an she successfully sit on? I have her on 6 and they are all completely covered but I want a good hatch rate and so if i need to I will reduce the number of eggs she is on. Any experience?

my bantam cochin had 6-8 eggs she had like 9-10 to start with but it was too much for her

6 sounds like a good number. I currently have a banty broody sitting on 9 standard size eggs.

Thanks, she seems to be doing alright on 6. I hope it works out cause I haven't had the most successful brood history. last fall my first broody sat on 9 six were duds and 2 died because of me, so we only got one. Thhis time my second broody had seven but another hen invaded her cage and laid eggs so she abandonded and lost 3. I reaally want to get better at this, and I hate learning the hard way.
