I inherited 2 banty roosters and this is my first experience with them and today one of my Leghorn hens was fighting with one of the roosters to the point I thought she was going to kill him but he kept going at her and I tried to intervene to keep her from killing him but when I saw that he was trying to mount her I understood why she was mad. They are the only roosters I have. Will he be able to defend himself against the hens or should I get the roosters out of there?

How long have you had the boys?
How old are they?
How did you introduce them to the flock?
Did the boy back down to her? If he won't they will fight.

They were hatched in with the leghorns. I bought the leghorns but my grandkids had the eggs they wanted me to hatch out so they have been together since august. But, I did just get rid of the Rhode Island Red rooster last week so maybe these are trying to find their place. The leghorn had him on the ground just pecking the crap out of him that is why I intervened. He is so pretty I hated for her to kill him.

He would not back down. I put the hen in the coop.

They are still cockerels then and Leghorns can be very fiesty.
I would keep the boys separate from the flock until they mature. If they are too stubborn to back down they will get themselves killed.
