Does anyone have a pic of baby seramas at 3 weeks old they can share.. I had to pull my hen and her chicks from the dad bcuz he wasn't careful were he walked.. And they were getting stepped on.. Just wanting to see the size of a 3 week old so I know if that will be a good age to put them all back together again.. Thanks!!

These are approximately three weeks old.

Be careful about putting chick/hen with a rooster. Many serama roosters are just fine with chicks but not all. When you reunite the birds be sure to watch for overly aggressive behavior on the roo's part. Be sure there is plenty of room for mom and chicks to get away should they need to. Below is my serama family. This rooster takes an active role in raising the chicks-a bit unusual.

Thank you!! My roo was helping as well but yesterday noticed he wasn't being careful after I found one lil baby dead.. Then while in the pen saw him step on one and the lil baby needed me to help put him on his feet.. I pulled them all right away.. When I showed him his family this morning the hen got upset.. I think I will just keep them all separate till the babies are old enough to be without their mom.. Then give him back his hen.. The pen they had has plenty of room its 6x6x8.. Or at least I thought it was.. He's just soo clingy to them that he wasn't paying attention where he was stepping.. I don't want to loose another bcuz it was trampled on.. Hopefully I'm doing what's best and he will be fine for a month or so till he gets his hen back..

My serama hens care for their chicks between 3 and 4 weeks of age. Those shown in my picture had already been weaned by the mother.
If your chicks are getting crushed underfoot I'd suggest you place more soft bedding down. Hens will also, accidentally, step on their chicks; with soft bedding the chicks won't be hurt when stepped on.
