Barack said "Yes, you can"... and she did!

Our RIR laid her first egg today!!! That's our 2nd first egg. Roughly one week from 1st squat to 1st egg. She laid in the nesting box that has the poster of Barack Obama saying "Yes, We Can". Yes... she could! (can't get pics off camera or I'd show you).

Two down, one to go (not including our banty cochin). Our standards - BSL, RIR & BR - are 30.5 weeks old. The BSL started laying on Thanksgiving Day.

The BR looks really close.

She's been squatting for about 3 weeks now.

Our banty cochin is a lost cause for laying. She's well over 8 months old and showing noooo signs of laying.

So far we've got 3 confirmed layers out of 11 (they were "buy 10 get 1 free" HAHA) all hens. I'm having a hard time getting anything done between checking the nesting boxes and reading posts on BYC. My poor husband is hoping the obsession is just temporary
